I'm a new author of children's books. I've just published my first book, "Little Nick". I also have three more in line waiting to be published. I believe that the best critics are the people that purchase the books and the children themselves. Ever since the book came out, people approach me at signings and readings at schools and festivals and ask: What do you look for when you're writing a book for children? I simply write from my own experiences. Think back and you'll see your life is richer than you think. I write the story at their level and make them feel as if I'm one of them without being condescending. What I'm asking here is: What do you look for in a children's book? and if you have children what do they like?
